LIST: Top 50 Overplayed/Hated Songs of All Time

I saw this on Facebook earlier and had to share. I know many of my blog followers are into music and I’d love their opinions on this list.

The list comes from a site called “A Lot Living,” which, from what I can tell, is some sort of entertainment site. I tried to post a link to the original article, but for what ever reason, the link wouldn’t work. Well, at least you have the list below…..

As a radio guy, and a mobile DJ, I agree with many of the songs on the list. Some of them, while overplayed, are still very well accepted by party crowds and radio listeners. Here is the list – YOU tell ME what you agree or disagree with….

      1. The class of 86 (my high school) sang Freebird at graduation!

***a great list (imo) many many favorites – and yet a few I’ve not heard before. – judge me not, and you won’t you be judged in return. – LoL

      2. LOL – I’m with you, there are some great songs on the list. I won’t deny that many are indeed overplayed.

I’m surprised at some of them, while others I know exactly why they are on the list!

  2. OMG, I was blissfully unaware of that one by Kim K! Ugh. Many of the songs on this list were/are popular because they’re very catchy and easy for people to sing along to (Achy Breaky Heart, Copacabana, Call Me Maybe), or are fun at parties (for some, anyway) (Macarena, Who Let the Dogs Out). But many on this list are truly loathed by many because they’re awful (We Built This City, Whip My Hair, Disco Duck, Friday, My Humps).

Of all the songs listed, I do love Pharrell’s “Happy”, The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” and James Blunt’s “You’re Beautiful”.

  3. Well, first off…I just have to say…I LOVE Photograph and I am a Nickelback fan, despite them being trashed all the time. Yes, Chad Kroeger is a complete ass but, the music is good…to me, anyway. I like The Proclaimers song (love a Scottish accent). All About The Base is good. I would be guilty of playing Tequila, over and over, again. Mah Na Mah Na (Do Do Do Do Do)…that is a fun ear worm! Grew up with that one. Still hum it… I like Call Me Maybe.

I Want Candy…The Strangeloves? I am unfamiliar with that version. I am used to Bow Wow Wow’s version. I remember hating Ice Ice Baby when it came out because of the Under Pressure rip-off. Can’t Touch This was played a lot, another one I hated at the time because of the Rick James rip-off. Now, it’s fun to listen to. Careless Whisper was played more than Wake Me Up.

I remember when The Final Countdown was played to death way back when but, I haven’t heard it in years. Ditto Achy Breaky… I’m old enough to remember Afternoon Delight being played to death at the time…also haven’t heard it in years. MMMBop was played a lot when it came out (it was a hit) and now it has disappeared. Disco Duck was worn out, as was Rubber Biscuit and Hen House 5 + 2 for their times. Message In A Bottle? NO. Roxanne & Every Breath You Take has been worn out. Sherry? NO. December 1963 has been worn out. Copa was worn out for its time…haven’t heard it on the radio in 30 years.

Many of these, I’ve never even heard of. Starship sucked. Once Jefferson Starship went past Find Your Way Back, they were awful.

#1 should be It’s A Small World for this list. GAH.
