What’s Been Up?

My apologies to you dear reader. It seems that I neglected to mention that last Friday was International Tuba Day!

I actually played tuba for a short time in high school.

Ella and Andrew had their final T-ball practice on Monday. It really is organized chaos and so fun to watch. They were practicing batting, tossing the bat to the side, and running the bases.

I’m actually off on Monday nights, so I will actually get to go to most of their games this year. Should be very fun to watch.

After practice, the kids talked mom into jumping on the trampoline with them.

Eventually I was in there, too, but I can’t do that for very long. I’m always afraid it will bring on vertigo.

Tuesday was a very difficult day. Andrew did not want to go to school. He wouldn’t get dressed. He wouldn’t eat breakfast. I fought to get him to do pretty much anything that morning. He finally went to his room and slammed the door. ENTER “DAD OF THE YEAR”

I went to his bedroom door and opened it to talk with him. Well, he was standing in front of the door at the time and it slammed into his face. I felt AWFUL! When I saw that his nose was bleeding, it made me tear up. I was worried that I broke his nose.

He had quite a goose egg on his forehead. My stomach turns just thinking about it.

Sam came home from work and she put ice on it while I took Ella to school. Ella is always glad to be by herself with me in the car. She talks more, she laughs more, and she’s not fighting with her brother. We ended up taking the dog with us. Ella wanted a selfie with us and the dog. Despite still feeling bad about the door incident, I took the picture.

Andrew was back at school on Wednesday and he must have been in his glory. They class played with ukuleles. I think all kids call them guitars, because that’s what every one of my kids have called them. I love this picture, except there is a visible reminder of the door incident.

He was very happy to tell me that he graduated from speech therapy. They gave him a certificate. He was a bit sad though, because he loved his therapists and he had made friends with some of the other kids there.

Yesterday was National Nurse’s Day. I have known the nurse at Ella’s school for years. Before becoming a nurse, she worked in radio with me. Nurse B sent me a picture yesterday. Some of the students drew pictures and wrote letters and poems for a book that was given to her for Nurse’s Day. My heart melted when I saw what my daughter did for her:

She truly has a heart of gold.

Speaking of Nurse’s Day, it is actually National Nurse’s Week. Let me offer my thanks to all my nurse friends for all you do!
