Along with Ronnie Dunn, Kix Brooks is the second half of Brooks and Dunn. Their 1991 debut album, Brand New Man, had four number-one hit singles on the country charts.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Brooks and Dunn a few times during my country radio days. Both are very nice guys and always willing to take time with listeners.
I’m trying to remember what year it was, but they did one show where the stage set was made to look like the back of a pickup truck. Their shows were always a good time.
Kix actually hosted the American Country Countdown for a few years after host Bob Kingsley stepped down. He actually did a great job.
Kix usually provided backing vocals on Brooks and Dunn songs and singles. However, he did have one song that he sang lead on that went to number one – “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone from their Waitin’ on Sundown album. It was written by Brooks and Dunn with Don Cook.
I'm just a guy who likes the classics. I love Old Time Radio Shows. I love Classic TV. I love Classic Movies. I love songs from the "Great American Songbook". I dig songs from the first decade of Rock and Roll. Don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to newer things. My musical taste ranges from Classical to Classic Rock and Country to Rap. I love a good book and am always looking for something to read. I tend to lean toward historical fiction, biographies, mysteries, and more.
I have always believed that our past (and the things we've experienced in it) make us who we are today. That being said, after reading through some old My Space blogs (yeah, that's about how long it's been since I blogged regularly), I decided that I should once again write. Welcome to my blog. I hope you find it interesting, thought provoking, and entertaining in some way.
