An ADHD Story

I left for work one day this week and had gotten about 2-3 miles down the expressway when I got a text from my wife. I do not make it a habit to look at my phone when driving, but I knew Andrew wasn’t feeling good, so I checked it. The text read:

“I have never felt so unwanted! 12 years and you can’t even come in and say goodbye. I don’t know why it hurts me so bad, but it does.”

Now at this point, I think, “Did I kiss her goodbye before I left?” I could swear that I did. I wasn’t taking any chances though, so I got off the expressway and drove home. I’d be a few minutes late for work, but this was important! When I walked in the door, my wife looked at me like I was crazy.

“I’m sorry, babe. I thought I did kiss you goodbye,” I told her.

“You did,” she said, “what are you doing back?”

I told her I got her text message. What I didn’t see was the picture she posted prior to the text. It was a screenshot of a text message she had sent to her boss about what to do with her badge and keys after her last shift (she starts a new job soon). The text said to just leave them and she’d get them. My wife was angry that they wouldn’t even come in to get her badge and say goodbye.

Just like I tend to do, I over reacted. I truly thought she was mad at me! I’m glad she wasn’t, and I did get an extra kiss before work …..
