Longtime readers know the agony I went through when my iPod died. They also may remember the painful process of trying to retrieve the music from it and finally getting the majority of it on a flash drive. It was a VERY long process.
My iPod was a source of peace at work. When things got loud, I could toss on my headphones and listen to my music and not get involved in a lot of the drama. When it died, I was able to use the USB and shuffle songs on Media Player. However, a while back, they decided that they didn’t want us putting flash drives in work computers. So that was that.
I was able to listen to stuff on YouTube occasionally, but there were ads and many songs were re-recordings and that drove me crazy. Well, this weekend I found this old and big honking MP3 player my dad had given me a while back. There was suddenly a ray of hope.
I checked it out and it had a lot of storage space on it. So, I spent 5 hours copying my iPod/flash drive music to this player. I wasn’t sure what kind of sound it would have, or if everything would transfer. I was thrilled to find that everything transferred! I was even more ecstatic that the player sounds great.
I plan on returning to the place of my solitude during my next shift. I will tune out talk of getting nails or hair done. I will tune out petty complaining by employees who enjoying complaining about everything under the sun. I will escape the nonsense and get lost in the music I love. As I used to say, “I’ll be headphoning!”
***Don’t worry, my patients are always my first priority! I’m always listening to them. I just position myself where music and patients are all I am focused on.
I’m looking forward to work …

Congratulations on successfully getting your music back. I agree, that background noise and conversation can be so distracting. Happy Solitude.
