How could I not love a God who never asked me to have it all together before coming to Him?

I’ve wandered.

I’ve questioned.

I’ve doubted.

I’ve made mistakes I wish I could undo.

I’ve had seasons where I felt so far from Him that I wondered if I could ever find my way back.

And still…

He wanted me.

For so long, I thought I had to fix myself before I could truly come to Jesus.

Be better first.

Pray more first.

Stop struggling first.

Get my life together first.

Become the person I thought He wanted me to be before I came near Him.

But Jesus never waited for a perfect version of me.

He met me exactly where I was.

In the mess.

In the hurt.

In the confusion.

In the questions.

In the shame.

In the seasons when I had absolutely nothing impressive to offer Him.

He didn’t turn away because I was struggling.

He didn’t stop loving me because I wandered.

He didn’t ask me to clean myself up before I came home.

He simply kept calling.

And the closer I get to Him, the more I realize…

I was never chasing a God who was trying to get away from me.

I was finding my way home to a God who had been calling me back the entire time.

A God who saw every wrong turn and still left the door open.

A God who knew how many times I would fall and still offered grace.

A God who knew the worst parts of me and loved me anyway.

So how could I not love Jesus?

How could I not be grateful for a grace that kept reaching for me when I was too lost to reach for Him?

I wandered…

but He welcomed me.

I doubted…

but He remained faithful.

I ran…

but He never stopped calling.

And now I understand…

Grace wasn’t waiting for me to become worthy.

Grace was waiting to remind me that I was already loved.

I may have wandered more times than I can count… but His grace always knew the way home.
