Last week, we went and met my daughter’s teacher. This year she starts first grade in the CAP program. CAP is Challenging Academic Potential. It is for those kids who are a bit more advanced than their classmates. She certainly falls into that category. She’s been reading chapter books all year!
The school where the program is run is a lot bigger than the elementary school she was in last year. It had the feel of a middle school. Even I was a bit overwhelmed. She had no issues and was so excited to be going back. Her first day was Monday.

She was so happy to get back! The whole family went to drop her off. After school, she had gymnastics so we headed right there after we picked her up. By the time we got home, it was close to bedtime.
Tuesday, I did the drop off. We talked a little in the car, but she had her tablet, so she really didn’t feel like talking. When we got to the drop off like, she turned off her tablet and we chatted. She had told us that she made two new friends the day before. So I asked if she was going to make more new friends that day.
“I know one person who won’t be my friend,” she said.
“Who?” I asked.
“Elliot! He was throwing things that he shouldn’t have been,” she told me. “He wasn’t listening to the teacher and he almost got a phone call home!”
“Wow,” I said. “Maybe he was just having a hard first day, but if not, I understand.”
“I’m not worried, Daddy. There are SO many kids wanting to be my friend in my class!”
I love her so much! She even told me that we didn’t get a selfie the day before. So naturally, we had to.

I am so proud of her! I know that she is going to have such a BIG year!
I bet she’ll do great with grades and making friends
