It’s time to look back at another week of happenings in the life of … me.
My daughter’s front tooth had been literally hanging there for a good couple weeks just waiting to come out. She didn’t want us to pull it out, so it sat there just dangling.
She came home from school one day this week and Mabel, our bernedoodle, started jumping on her. Mabel was so excited to see her that she knocked the front tooth out. Needless to say, the Tooth Fairy had to make sure to run to the ATM to make sure there was cash to leave for her tooth.

My daughter doesn’t have school on Fridays until after Labor Day. So they took advantage of the day off to enjoy some swimming with mom. Sam took them to Outdoor Adventure, where they had the pool basically to themselves.

This week my baby brother, Christopher celebrated 32 years at his library. He posted a bunch of pictures on his Facebook page, but this one was my favorite! Congratulations on being yet another year closer to retiring before me!

Andrew and I were home alone this week and he wanted to play the X-Box. He insisted on playing this baseball game. It is way too hard for him to play, but he wanted to anyway. I showed him how to bat, but he’d swing early or late. Then he discovered the bunt selection.
We played the rest of the game with him bunting for every …. single …. batter! URGH!!!

Speaking of the X-Box, I play a game called Forza Horizon 5 on it. (My X-box is an older model, and I cannot get the newest version to play.) You have the option to listen to various radio stations in your car while you drive. One of the songs that plays on the classical station I listen to is “Over The Waves” by Juventino Rosas. I guarantee that you will know it if you have ever watched cartoons.

Juventino Rosas’ waltz “Sobre las Olas” (Over the Waves) is perhaps the most famous song of its generation. Now, more than 130 years after it was written, the tune still feels immediate—sweeping, dreamy, and above all, supremely sure-footed. Every note is both rooted and soaring, coaxing even the wallflowers to dance and sway. It is easily on par with his contemporary Johann Strauss Jr.’s masterwork “The Blue Danube”—to the point that Strauss Jr. is often mistakenly credited with having composed “Sobre las Olas.”
One night I work I was listening to a classical playlist, which included the song. As it played on YouTube, the composer’s picture was in the video window. Here is the picture.

My co-worker saw it and said I was lying about my Italian heritage and that I was actually Mexican. This was obviously my Mexican cousin. From there, I have put up with “Taco Tuesdays” in my honor, someone cut out a sombrero and taped it on the head of the photo on my ID badge, and silly things like that.
She recently went to San Antonio Texas to visit her son. I told her to bring me home a “Ten Gallon Hat!” She had no idea what I was talking about, so I had to show her pictures of them. I couldn’t believe she had never heard of them. Anyway, when I came in to work last week, she had returned from Texas. This was sitting in front of my station:

She told me that was the closest she could come to a ten gallon hat!
sounds like a great week. mabel must work with the tooth fairy! the pic of your brother is hilarious

Thats even better. The hats we wear in Texas are now about 4 1/2 gallons. and shaped weird. I have a Stetson LBJ style straw hat that I wear and a regular Stetson in the winter.

honestly I was surprised how few people I see down here who routinely wear 10 gallon hats or cowboy ones at all. I kind of came down here expecting the movie cliche wear all the men were donning one and started conversations with ‘howdy’.
Bunt every at bat! That could be an unusual strategy that would be…interesting.
