I remember the craziness of Homecoming week. Extra marching band rehearsals, spirit week theme days, guys in their football jerseys, gals in their cheerleading uniforms and the Friday pep assembly! It was one of my favorite weeks every year.
My girl was all decked out for Friday’s festivities!
I got off work Friday morning and never went to bed. Too much to do. We had an appointment for my kids after the half day of school and then it was off to the parade.
The parade is always a highlight for me. I get nostalgic remembering marching in our parade. I loved that there were no politicians in this parade. Never really cared for that. Crooks in cars, we used to call them.
Instead, the Book Bus was there….
The Pom dance team did a routine while walking ….
One kid had an Eagle head on for his team …
Miss Davison was there with a couple other “princesses.” I couldn’t help but wonder if Vivian Blaine was named after the actress of the same name….
A gal Sam babysat for many years was in the running for Homecoming Queen, she was thrilled to see Sam on the street. We were cheering her on! Sadly, she didn’t win.
Then, of course, the band. At least I got to hear them play this year. Other years they always played after they passed us.
Ella saw the daughter of a friend of ours. She is a Senior this year. She was sitting with other Seniors and they were painting their faces. Ella first asked if she could sit with them. They said yes. Then she told them stories. Then she asked if they would paint her face.
She was treated so nice by the girls. She loved her Cardinal and didn’t want to wash it off.
To top off the night, the football team won. The only thing missing was the sun.
