Just this week I was reminded that my wife and I got our new vehicles. We each got a Chevy Trax. What is had to believe is that just two years later, mine hit a big milestone.

She hit 100,000 miles driving south on I-75 on my way to work. Here’s to the next 100,000!

I had called my oldest boys to see if they could get together on Sunday afternoon. They said that they could. Later that day, my dad called to say he was thinking of driving up Sunday. It’s been forever since he has seen my older boys, so I was happy that we were able to plan an outing.
We decided to meet at one of the local parks. I was going to bring pizza and we could have lunch together. There was a playground where the kids could play, and we could talk while they played. We actually got there a little early, so they kids were already playing when my dad showed up. Once he arrived, they wanted to eat, so they did.

I texted my oldest to tell him where to find us, but didn’t hear back right away. About 40 minutes after he was supposed to be there, he called to say he’d over slept. I told him we’d be there for a bit and to drive careful. When he arrived, he was alone. His brother was still sleeping. I had to chuckle because it was like 2 in the afternoon.
The park we were at has a nice little trail to walk. Most of it is very open, but there are some spots where you really get to enjoy the foilage.

Along the trail, they actually have stations that are sponsored by the county library. At each station, there are two pages from a children’s book. You start at station one and by the end of the walk, you’ve read the whole story. It’s a very cool idea.
They also have areas that are sponsored by groups. They have an area where walkers can pick spices that are being grown, another area where there is a fairy garden, and plenty of flowers.

It was a beautiful afternoon and I am so glad that we got to get together. We missed Dimitri, but we’ve already said we need to do this again soon.

On Monday, Ella stayed home from school. She had the choice to go, but decided to stay home so she could get ready. Sam called our photographer friend and set up a “Kindergarten Graduation” shoot. She had a cap and gown and they did a quick mini-session. Afterward, I took her for ice cream while Sam took Andrew to his appointment.
She decided that she wanted chocolate chips on her ice cream. However, she did not pick soft serve for her cone. So they gal at the ice cream place gave her a cup of chocolate chips so that she could dip her cone in it.

That same day, Sam noticed that Andrew was doing this blinking thing with his eyes. We’ve seen enough patients who do this to know that sometimes this could be a seizure. We reached out to the doc who asked to get video if possible. We sent the video and while the doc thinks it is probably behavioral, she wanted to do an EEG anyway.
Tuesday morning, Sam got a call that said they could get him in that day. As a matter of fact, they could do it in about 2 hours. Well, the hospital is an hour away, and Sam was far from ready to go anywhere, so she had to jump in the shower and get dressed to go in a hurry. She woke me up to tell me what was going on and that I’d have to get Ella from school. I changed my alarm and went back to bed.

I had just gotten into a good sleep when my phone starts binging and buzzing. It wasn’t a normal sound I was used to, and my phone was on Do Not Disturb. However, when a tornado warning goes into effect, it will wake you up. I tuned into the local weather and the storm was moving our way. I hurried up and showered and figured I may as well stay up. As time passed, there was rain, but nothing crazy. A twister DID touch down a few miles south of us in Flint, and north of us in Freeland. Someone took a picture of the Flint one and posted it on social media.

I’m not sure how much damage was done, but that certainly looks like a pretty nasty twister.
They’d been talking about nasty weather, but it wasn’t supposed to hit until today (Wednesday) and into the weekend. This kind of caught the weather folks off gaurd.
As much as I hated to be woke up early, I am grateful to know that if this situation happens again, we’ll know about it.
