As you know, Friday was my 56th birthday. It was a fairly normal day. I worked Thursday night and Friday morning, the kids Facetimed me to sing Happy Birthday before school. I came home and slept for a couple hours before I had to take Andrew to occupational therapy. Afterward, I picked up Ella from school and came home to have cake before my wife left for work.

Andrew had picked out the cake. He picked this one because it was chocolate. My wife was hoping for the cherry chip cake, but he said he knew I liked chocolate. We couldn’t find candles, so no birthday wish for me. Probably safer that way anyway – no fire department needed.
The kids got to pick out a card for me and i had to chuckle.

I’m always overwhelmed with the amount of birthday wishes that come via Facebook. Over 200 of them yesterday! Many of them just simple wishes, while others were silly memes and such. Each very much appreciated.
Then there are the ones that come with creative thought. For example, my buddy Vinnie posted a picture. He and I worked at my first radio station together. He was a fan of Maynard Ferguson like me. When my high school brought Maynard in for a show, he was there. I can’t remember, but I think I emceed the show. He has a picture of me back stage with Maynard as he is signing autographs. This is the only proof I have that I met him.

Vinnie posted this and said, “Here’s a picture of a trumpet legend … and Maynard Ferguson!”
My buddy, and old radio boss, Brian (who I torment every year on his birthday with Ethel Merman pictures) said, “I don’t know a better way to say this and posted:

… you can’t go wrong with Dean Martin, even if it is AI.
Speaking of AI, my other old radio boss, Joby wins birthday post of the year. I have no idea where he found the photo he used, but I am still laughing at this:

The captions:
(Stooges) “The Lost Stooge … Couldn’t remember any of his lines except ‘Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk'”
(Dick Van Dyke Show) …”He didn’t get along with Morey Amsterdam”
(Gomer Pyle) … “His chemistry with Jim Nabors was just a little too good…”
(Andy Griffith Show) … “Before Deputy Warren replaced Don Knotts in the sixth season, Keith was cast, but pulled from the show before his first week was even completed. It turns out he and Fracis Bavier got gassed in the back room at Floyd’s Barbershop.” (Whatever that means!)
(Star Trek) … “Originally cast as the first Mr. Spock in the Star Trek pilot, Keith had to be replaced when he kept referring to Dr. McCoy as ‘Boner’ instead of ‘Bones'”
I’m not going to lie, if Joby was this funny on the air, his show might actually do well in the ratings!
All in all, it was a good birthday. Thanks to all who sent to wishes my way!
Happy Birthday!!! Enjoy the glow.. don’t get burned. Ha!
