Friday Photo Flashback

Yesterday marked what would have been the 45th anniversary of my grandfather’s passing. He was the first death I ever experienced and it made an everlasting impact. I was 11 years old.

So today, here are a few of my favorite photos of him.

Probably my first Christmas ….
Same day. I think, with my grandma, too!
I always loved this photo – dig the giant spoon and fork in the background!
No idea when this was taken, but I love this picture of him and me in his rocker.
This is how I will always remember him. This couldn’t have been taken too long before he passed.

45 years later and I have so many things I wish I could ask him and tell him. He is missed.

  1. Despite only being in our lives for a relatively short period, he had a huge influence and his presence, kindness, and love was felt for a long, long time. I wish we had more time with him and had been able to develop some deeper connections like we did with the rest of our grandparents. I’m grateful for what we got, but still can’t not wish it had been more.

  2. That is really cool Keith…. he wasn’t too old was he? He didn’t look it in the last picture. I never was as close with my grandfathers…but was close to my grandmothers. Mine were hard old men…I loved them to death but they were really old school. Get bitten by a copperhead and finish plowing the field kind of guys.
