The Butt of Many Jokes

Saturday we went to a campground to celebrate my nephew’s birthday. The campground has mini-golf, indoor and outdoor pools, and playgrounds. There was plenty of things to do.

When we arrived, we went to the cabin they were in and had pizza and cupcakes. Afterward, Ella and my nieces went to the playground. Then Andrew, me and one of the other kids did mini-golf. The sun was pretty hot, so we went to the pool to swim.

At one point we were all sitting around on the grass at the back of the cabin. I was sitting on one of the camping chairs that my mother-in-law brought. When she was getting ready to leave I went to get out of the chair and the fabric ripped at the seam and I fell through the chair. Yes, I was embarrassed.

I felt fine when we left to head home. I felt ok when I woke up Sunday, too. However, after lunch, I began to get up from my chair and my back had some pain in it. That pain got progressively worse as the day went on. I had such a hard time sleeping because of the pain.

Monday, when I woke up, I could barely get out of bed. The pain was terrible. Walking was so painful. Driving Ella to school was difficult and I decided I would go straight to the chiropractor. He took me right back and really did some deep messaging and did an adjustment. It didn’t help.

Yesterday I went to my primary doctor. She checked me out and was pressing points on my back. She hit one spot that really hurt. She said I had either broke or bruised my coccyx. She sent me for X-rays and told me to stay home from work for the rest of the week.

I can get in and out of my chair – slowly. Getting into bed is a challenge. I never sleep on my back, but kind of have to because it hurts to sleep on my side. That makes me snore, which keeps my wife awake. It’s just not a good situation.

I hate being off work, but am not sure I could do my job if I was there. I love being home with the family, but I really can’t do much of anything.

So, the butt, behind, crack, and cheeky comments are flying all over on text messages, in regular conversation, and in phone calls. It’s gonna be a LONG week…

  1. oh man, that’s awful. Is that your real X-ray… it looks like a big break! You do seem to have the worst luck health-wise, hope it gets better soon for you and won’t be too much of a pain in the … well, you know!
