It snowed this week. It was a bit more than flurries and we received about an inch. It was just enough to make driving a bit treacherous and the yard beautiful. With just over two weeks until Christmas, I do hope the snow remains on the ground. I am partial to a white Christmas. There … Continue reading A Snowy Lesson

I'm just a guy who likes the classics. I love Old Time Radio Shows. I love Classic TV. I love Classic Movies. I love songs from the "Great American Songbook". I dig songs from the first decade of Rock and Roll. Don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to newer things. My musical taste ranges from Classical to Classic Rock and Country to Rap. I love a good book and am always looking for something to read. I tend to lean toward historical fiction, biographies, mysteries, and more.
I have always believed that our past (and the things we've experienced in it) make us who we are today. That being said, after reading through some old My Space blogs (yeah, that's about how long it's been since I blogged regularly), I decided that I should once again write. Welcome to my blog. I hope you find it interesting, thought provoking, and entertaining in some way.

Book Recommendation: Mr. Dickens and His Carol
Every year I read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Last year, I saw this book and added it to my "want to read" stack. It is a fictional telling of how Dickens came to write the book. The book intertwines facts and fiction as it tells the story. Check out the Amazon.com synopsis: A beloved, … Continue reading Book Recommendation: Mr. Dickens and His Carol
Friday Photo Flashback
I went through some of my holiday photos this week. This was taken at my maternal grandmother's house. Quite a few things stand out in this picture to me. First, the television set! I was once a remote control for one of those, LOL! Man, those things were something. My grandma had one of those … Continue reading Friday Photo Flashback

I put the turkey in the oven about noon, knowing it would be done around 4:00pm. I made a pot of … Continue reading Life’s Little Moments
The Music of My Life – 1999
Welcome back to The Music of My Life, where I feature ten songs from each year of my life. In most cases, the ten songs I choose will be ones I like personally (unless I explain otherwise). Tune Tuesday – Blue Christmas
56 years ago today, NBC aired Elvis Presley's 1968 Comeback Special. This was HUGE! Elvis hadn't appeared live in about seven years because he was busy doing movies. Naturally, it topped the ratings! The special was originally going to be a Christmas special. The special's director didn't think that would peak the interests of young … Continue reading Tune Tuesday – Blue Christmas

It was created … Continue reading Movie Music Monday – The Naked Gun
Life’s Little Moments
The week was a busy one to start with. Add a holiday to that and it get's crazy! This week, Ella only had to go to school two days. They made turkeys out of paper plates. They also asked each child what they were thankful for. ("I'm thankful for when mommy tucks me in at … Continue reading Life’s Little Moments
