I missed National Poetry Day. I guess it was October 1st this year. When I was a kid, I used to write poems all the time. Topics ranged from my grandma's food, my grandpa buying lottery tickets, why I loved baseball, etc... I was far from a talented poet. I would never have been able … Continue reading National Poetry Day

That’s a Big 10-4
Jackie Gleason as Buford T. Justice Sunday was October 4th. It was 10-4 day. I was tagged by about 10 friends in pictures from Smokey and the Bandit on Sunday. Those pictures featured Jerry Reed and Burt Reynolds. I figured I should find a good picture of Sheriff Buford T. Justice with his CB, hence … Continue reading That’s a Big 10-4
Blog # 300!!
Another Milestone Well, here it is - my 300th blog post. To be completely honest, I have a few more than 300, but some were kept private. So this is my 300th "published" blog. Over the past few blogs, I knew this milestone blog was coming, and wondered just how a blogger celebrates this kind … Continue reading Blog # 300!!

Here's the pitch .... Bad news - you can get it anywhere. Open up your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and you'll find it in abundance. Surf to any local or national news website and it is there. Elementary, My Dear Reader
I believe I have blogged in the past about Sherlock Holmes. I guess it is interesting that while I have never read a Sherlock Holmes book by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I have read books loosely based on the character. There was a series out not too long ago called The Baker Street Mysteries, that … Continue reading Elementary, My Dear Reader
One Hit Wonder Day
Yesterday (9/25) was National One Hit Wonder Day. A One Hit Wonder is a song that would be considered the only hit song for an artist. In surfing through Sirius XM while driving, almost all of the "Decade" channels were playing one hit wonders yesterday. The book pictured above is filled with great stories about … Continue reading One Hit Wonder Day
Remember Fast 111’s?
It's amazing how two people can remember different things about the same event. My brother and I chatted on the phone tonight. Today marks the 39th anniversary of the passing of our grandfather. In talking about this, my brother and I both (1) remembered that we had been at my grandma's house the night before … Continue reading Remember Fast 111’s?
Tune Tuesday – Autumn Leaves
It's been sometime since I've posted something for Tune Tuesday. With today being the first official day of Autumn, I wanted to post one of my favorite "seasonal" songs - Autumn Leaves. There have been many versions of the song, but I just love the way Nat King Cole does it. Nat released his vocal … Continue reading Tune Tuesday – Autumn Leaves
I Now Pronounce You …
Another first for me this past weekend - I performed a wedding ceremony. Many years ago, I worked briefly for a DJ company that had all of their DJ's get ordained on the internet. The idea was that if you were DJing a wedding where the minister didn't show up, you could step in (and … Continue reading I Now Pronounce You …

Ashamed to be a Fan Like most guys, I'm a football fan. I'm also a very lucky football fan, as my wife loves to watch football, too! For my readers who don't know, I live in Michigan. The good news is that we have a professional NFL team here. The bad news is that the … Continue reading Football and Family
