My friend, Eric, was the choir director at my high school. While I was never in choir, music brought us together. We played many Easter services together, he matches with the alumni band, and he even provided music at my first marriage.
Every day on Facebook, he will play a song on his piano. Selections vary from classical to jazz to pop. He is currently playing a series of ballads.
Last night he played “Speak Softly Love.”. You may know it as the Love Theme from The Godfather. It was a huge song for Andy Williams. It reminded me of a version I was introduced to by my brother.
I had never heard of Petrizio Buanne. My brother shared his first album with me and I loved it. He covers the Godfather tune, entitled “Parla Piu Piano.”. Sung in Italian, it sounds SO good!
I figured I have been so focused on books lately, it was time to once again share some music. Here are all three versions of the song. Enjoy.
I'm just a guy who likes the classics. I love Old Time Radio Shows. I love Classic TV. I love Classic Movies. I love songs from the "Great American Songbook". I dig songs from the first decade of Rock and Roll. Don't get me wrong, I am not opposed to newer things. My musical taste ranges from Classical to Classic Rock and Country to Rap. I love a good book and am always looking for something to read. I tend to lean toward historical fiction, biographies, mysteries, and more.
I have always believed that our past (and the things we've experienced in it) make us who we are today. That being said, after reading through some old My Space blogs (yeah, that's about how long it's been since I blogged regularly), I decided that I should once again write. Welcome to my blog. I hope you find it interesting, thought provoking, and entertaining in some way.

Quite a nice tune, at least the Williams version which I am listening to. Sounds vaguely familiar, but just that. Unlike most of the planet, it would seem, I’m not enamored with the Mafia and haven’t seen the Godfather!
I like his idea of posting himself playing a different song every day, that’s pretty cool!
The Godfather isn’t for everyone. It was a rite of passage for me. My dad and I watched it together when I was young. Every time I watched it after, I understood more. I read the book and got a bit more from that. The film remains an all time favorite
Part two was definitely good. I think it is as good as part one. I don’t know that I could say one is better than the other – I look at the two as one complete entity, if that makes sense…. LOL
I thought about using this as my next submission for you, but I didn’t think you’d want another Italian song. I have something else in mind for you… Lol

well you’re definitely not alone on that choice. Are you like many who think part II was even better?

Ah, excellent Keith. Something with this theme is scheduled in The Rhythm Section for the end of the month and I’m thrilled!
