Enter The Tunnel Of Carpal

For those who have asked, I have finally received the answer to the numbness in my hands.  The results of the EMG showed that I have mild/moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. It is worse on the left side.

I suppose it is nice to have an answer, but at the same time I am still left with questions.  What about the swelling I had in not only my hands, but my feet?  What about the pain in all my joints that day? Carpal Tunnel explains part of the stuff, but not all of it.

So now I am wearing braces on my wrist/ hands at night.  I am wearing one now because the numbness on my left hand is really bad today.  Hopefully, this isn’t a permanent thing. It’s kind of hindering.

I follow up in 6 weeks.

  1. As a sufferer of painful arthritis in various parts of my body, including my hands and wrists, I hear ya. You raise some good questions. The numbness is likely nerve compression. I’m not taking any pain meds other than Advil so a topical is often a good idea; I like to use Voltaren Gel. It’s now OTC and has no annoying fragrance. A little goes a long way. I hope you get some relief soon.

  2. Jennifer has this and I had a friend who had an operation for it. If it doesn’t get better than will probably do that. I’ve seen people get better though with braces…livable anyway.

  3. Getting a partial answer is good, but I think you ask some very good question, Keith. There has to be more. I find that doctors here (Windsor) are often quick to say it is carpal tunnel, but it is often more detailed than that.
