I had to do something I’ve never had to do before – and I don’t even know if it will stop the issue.
Shut It Down – For Now…
My Facebook page is my main social media account. I have an Instagram account, but I rarely post personal stuff on it. I use it mainly to post things that I’d rather not post on my Facebook page. Well, recently I did post some personal pictures on there and also posted some things to bait the stalkers of that page.
At any rate, one of the rats finally showed themselves in a comment and that made me wonder if there were any other “Followers” I may have missed when I blocked or deleted them. I logged on to my laptop, instead of using the app on my phone. This was probably the first time in a long time that I have logged on from an actual computer.
I went through the list of people I was following and those who were following me and blocked and deleted some of the possible subjects who might be looking for something to share with people who are not a part of my life anymore. Once I did that, I began to have issues with Instagram.
For approximately three days after the laptop login, I kept getting emails from Instagram that someone had either attempted to log in to my account or actually got into it. When you open the app on the phone, the above screen popped up. All the attempts were from this Mountain View, California. When I clicked on “This Wasn’t Me” I was immediately prompted to change my password to regain access to the account. I literally could not access my account until I changed the password.
This happened to me over the course of three days about three times a day. Each time I changed my password. It got to be extremely annoying. I did some preliminary searches on the internet, and couldn’t really find if this was a phishing scam or something. Some articles said it was nothing, others said it was phishing.
I wasn’t sure what to think, and since I only use it to post primarily silly pictures, I decided to temporaily disable the account.
Since doing it, I have not received any emails or notifications. I wonder if they will return once I reactivate the account.
We shall see…..
Anyone else have this issue?
